Turns out I don't. I played the MarkBass MarkII Combo Head (IIRC thats the actual model name) today, it was the sickest ************************* amp I've ever played through. More punk than the SVT classic I played through also. There is also a knob called the "VFT" or something thing like that, there were 2 oddly named knobs and this one was on the right (for people who own this amp), and I can't even describe what it did to my tone but lets just say it was: sweet-tone X punk******* awesome. It was only $1150, which seemed really good to me cause it was loud as hell and had the best tones I've ever heard.

The original combos used the Little Mark II Head and are labeled Combo on the front plate
.The current models use the Little Mark III head and are labeled Combo II on the front plate. These have the improved d.i. with variable pot and pre or post tone select. |

I love love love my LMII. w/ a SABDDI it is tonal heaven for me. I also have a minimark I've kicked the snot out of and it is whisper quiet and loud as balls at the same time!
as for the VPF and VLE I rarely use them. but in all fairness I haven't given them a shot at gig volumes. |

i sometimes dial in mine live about 30% at most.
markbass are great however - OP, why did you hate them? |

I like my tone rather bright, but punchy and the markbass never delivered. They seemed like of "ehhhhh" rather dull I guess, like ok at best and too pricey, I always liked the fender and ampeg amps better, and for the same price range I like the mesa stuff WAY better.
If anybody was wondering I played through it with an american special maple fretboard pbass. |

I didn't realize google would do a search with only the acronym. I now now better. Thanks for the help. |

markbass are great however - OP, why did you hate them? | See I had everything about flat with low-mids very slightly boosted and high-mids all the way and the VPF all the way up, all with the gain at 12oclock. Freakin sweet tone, very JAE IMO. |

You just get a looot of the same questions on this site and many of them can be answered simply by doing a Google search or by searching the Talkbass archives. |
