I have one Orange OBC115 and I want to add one more 15. The problem I have is transporting them.
I was looking at a Bag End S15-D. I have heard them with a few different heads, basses and styles of music and they always seem to sound good.
I own a Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab truck. I can not fit the orange cab in the front passenger seat and two OBC 115's would just fit in the back seat. That leaves setting my VB-2 sideways balancing in the front passenger seat. Not cool if someone pulls out in front of me and I need to stand on the brakes. The Bag End will sit in the front seat and I can put a seat belt around my head in the back seat to hold it in place. I can also just grab the Bag End if I need one cab.
My question is, Will the Bag End cab sound good with the Orange cab? Will they match up well? It is hard to find all the spec's on the Orange cab and if I did I am not sure what all the numbers mean anyway.
The Orange cab is rated 400W (RMS) handling, 8 ohm The Bag End is Continuous Sine Wave Power Handling: 200W & Peak Music Program Power Handling: 400W
Price wise I have found some good deals on both cabs so the price difference is only $46.00 with the Orange being more

I would want the same exact cab as the one I already have personally. |

Originally Posted by JimmyM results are unpredictable if cabs aren't the same. it's something you would have to try to be able to tell. | That's true. The Orange cab is basically a TL-606 / Mesa cab. I thought that may be someone would have some experience mixing them with the Bag End cab.
I have been looking at vinyl tonneau covers for the bed of my truck so I can put the cabs in the box and keep them safe. But they cost more than a cab.
Does anyone have a idea what problems I could run into with the Bag End / Orange combination? The ohm & power ratings seem to match.

it up into a cover that fits your cab....secure it right behind the truck cab and the wind/rain won't get at it..i've read much good stuff about 2 x those oranges....

At any given frequency, different speakers often delay the acoustical output of their electrical input by different amounts. Without going into a deep technical explanation (which you can find with a search), the end result of this difference is that, as JimmyM has put it so well in the past, some notes will sound louder than others when both speakers are connected. I would also add "different" to "louder," because sometimes, at any particular note, the fundamental will cancel and the harmonic will reinforce, or the harmonic will cancel but the fundamental will reinforce. Like I said, that's just for one unique note. A note lying elsewhere on the fretboard may "sum out" totally differently. So, as you're playing, the harmonic structure and volume of your sound can be varying all over the map. Depending on the particular speakers, this can fall anywhere between barely noticeable and extremely disturbing. The audiophiles would call it "lack of coherence." The Catch-22 is that you can't know before you try, but you have to try before you can know. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
