Ibanez Promethean 1x10" combo

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I've just purchased a promethean combo which has an audible hiss, even with both gain and master set to zero. I've noted that a number of other TBers have reported a similar problem with their units and was wondering if anyone has narrowed down the source and/or solution.

Note also that this is the second unit I've had problems with - the original amp sent out by Thomann (who I bought from) was dead quiet but made a crackling noise when engaging the EQ sliders indicating a possible grounding problem. I sent this back only to receive the one with the hiss!! So, I'm hesitant to send it back again and will certainly raise this with Ibanez as an issue of poor QC. I've certainly never had this problem with new products assembled/manufactured in the US, UK, Australia etc, just crappy Chinese workmanship.

Aside from this, these are fantastic little amps...shame about the inconsistency with production quality.

Any useful advice, comments etc welcome!

Cheers, Chris

Ah, that's a real shame. I can't help you with your problem, other that to say mine is OK. And yes, they do sound great!

I hope you get it sorted.

Thanks, me too!! Buying the promethean followed some exhaustive research and it came down to either the promethean or Genz Benz shuttle. Hmmm.....have I made yet another bum choice???
