Ibanez Promethean 1x10 combo with what extension Cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking about buy a promethean 1x10 amps ,,
http://www.thomann.de/ie/ibanez_p5110_promethean.htm

but i'm wondering what to use with it ? Oh and i want light weight extension cabs.

The ibanez has a 1x10 extension cab
http://www.thomann.de/ie/ibanez_p110c_promethean.htm
but that has a neo driver in it , the 1x10 combo has a ceramic , i read a thread about not mixing different drivers , but is it ok to mix a ceramic and a neo in a mini rig ?

also would it be better to use a 2x10 for the extension cab ?

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Sean

Have you played through a Promethean in a band setting? If so, which other instruments were involved?

I use mine some times with an Aguilar GS210 as an extension cab. Sounds great. That particular cab is not what I would call light weight, though.

I'm sure somebody will be along shortly, though, to tell you that running 250W through 1 10" speaker alongside 125W each into 2 more 10" speakers is not a good idea.

Besides the fact that mine sounds really good, all I can add is that running mine with the master almost completely wide open, with no extension cab, where the one 10" speaker was getting the full 250W worked fine and shows no signs of having damaged the speaker. It just wasn't loud enough for that day's work. That said, I will say that I would feel a lot better about running mine with the extension cab and the Master set at, say 60%, than I would about running it with no extension cab and the Master at 90% again. With the 210 extension cab, it's a LOT louder.

I personally would get a larger 4 ohm cab of your choice, 2x12 or 4x10. And then consider it an either/or situation as opposed to an "extension cab". The promethean can certianly deliver whatever good you need it to, but by using the internal speaker, that will be your bottleneck.

If a 2x10 is enough the Ibanez cab was at least designed to be used with it.
