Question Ibanez Promethean

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anybody used the Ibanez Promethean amp? Right now i play through a laney RB3, which is good for gigging coz it's quite big but not really good round the house. So i'm looking for something small but with a big sound. Plus the amp head's detatchable, which would suit me down to the ground.

So what's the sound like, is basically what I'm asking, and would it suit a metal/post-hardcore sound?

There are several good threads on that in this forum if you search for them. "Promethean" is a very good and easy to use search term.

I have a Promethean 1x10 combo. I love it. It sounds fine by itself, but I usually use it with my Sansamp BDDI between my bass and the amp, to get the SVT-like sound that I prefer.

I have used just the head through my Aguilar GS210 + GS115 setup, at a gig (with my SABDDI), and it was awesome! I started that gig with my SVT 2 Pro (tube amp) running the cabs, but the electricity in the place was so crappy my SVT kept shutting off. I changed over to the SABBDI/Promethean setup through the same cabs and even my bass player friend who used to gig with an SVT/810 rig, who was in the audience, didn't notice. Well, except for the fact that it didn't shut off any more after that.

ps. I think it would work fine, with the right cab(s), for metal. I don't have a clue what "post-hardcore" is, so I can't comment on that.
