Ibanez SW65 tone + VT bass tone

I have one of these 12" combos. By itself, it sounds fairly good to me, and great with a VT bass. For 65 watts, it's a great personal monitor since we have good PA and in-ear monitors. I have had this set up in our practice space and been using it since I don't want to drag the 410HLF and 400RBIII out of the gig truck just for practices, and it seems to sound better and better as I tweak on it. I have been using my VT bass set up for SVT. I don't know why it sounds like it does compared to any of my GK amps (1001, 700, 400), but I would say it's more Ampeg like with less defined midbass, less midrange, but good lows and "just right" mids. Slap tone does sound punchy but with less midrange, which to me, sounds better. I can't get the Gk to sound like this, with the VT bass, with different cabs, with different basses, plugged right into the effects return, or whatever. It's coloration, but it's coloration that I enjoy, and fits in well with the band. It's been keeping up well with a drummer and guitarist in our practice space. I'm actually going to gig with it at my next gig to see how it goes. I have been playing it with a Warwick $$ 4 string.
Knowing that, I am wondering if anyone has some experience with this combo, and how the preamp section is voiced compared to the Promethean? I want this tone, just louder, and honestly, a little easier to carry.
Thanks,
Wes

I just got one. Its good so far. More than adequate for those quiet gigs. It has a very musical EQ. Lots of tonal options.
