Ideas for getting high end sounds...

Sign in to disble this ad

OK, so here's what I an running... I play a Traben Era Bass with a hipshot bass extender for those Drop D songs. I have a GK MB200 head which I absolutely love and a cabinet with 2-12's in it from Seismic Audio (based right here out of Memphis...btw...great deals). I get wonderful warm lows from my set up, but am missing out on mids and highs due to the lack of a horn-loaded tweeter. I didn't think I would need one, but am now finding I am missing that angle. Any suggestions on getting the highs I'm looking for? If I replace one of the ported holes with a horn-loaded tweeter, how much will that change my low end sound? Does anyone know of good and inexpensive external tweeters I can daisy-chain from my cabinet. Thanks in advance!!!!! Also, if you know of any good places to find basslines/tabs for Christian artists, let me know too please!!!!

Can you list your EQ settings and show us pics of the cabinet?

Putting a tweeter in one of the ports will most definitely effect how the cab sounds - and not in a good way.

You would also need to know the specs of the speakers, so that a proper crossover or high pass filter can be installed.

Easiest fix is getting a real cabinet.

ETA - went to their website. Don't even see a 2X12 bass cab. So either you have a 2X10, or you have a guitar cab.

The cool thing about ports is that they can be moved.

Thanks guys! I am looking at getting a Gallien-Krueger 210MBX 200W 2x10 Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn from Guitar Center. Regarding the 2-12's box I have, I got it about a year and a half ago and haven't seen it back on their website since. It would surprise me if it was mis-labeled on the website. I do remember that before I bought it, I contacted them and was told it would work for for a bass cabinet, but then again they may have said that for a quick sale. Only spent $56 on it, so it's not like I'm out tremendously on money...HEH! So which would you get:
Gallien-Krueger 210MBX 200W 2x10 Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn
- or -
Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn (200watts @ 4ohms)

Will also get a pic of the cabinet and my amp head settings tonight and post when I get home from church.

I know your not talking about wanting a whole new cabinet, but the new Avatar 153 full range bass cabinet might be what your looking for.
The 153 is getting great reviews.
Full sounding and it has a mid driver and horn at a very reasonable price.

I'm gonna check those out. I've been seeing alot of talk on here about that.
One thing I did tonight which did help out ALOT, as I set the bass @ about 0, the mids @ 2 and the high @ 1. I got a much better blend of sound from it, but still not quite what I'm looking for. Definitely going to check out the avatars though.
I think like the other guy said earlier...It's prolly a guitar cabinet and not a bass cabinet.

nicely priced too. I think this will have to be my next purchase. Will keep you all updated!
