Looking for model/year/specs, etc.

Serial 060015
US PAT 3183305

Says "B-15N" on top, so that part seems simple.

It's pretty rough cosmetically, but has recently had a check up and sounds awesome.

Any information you can help me find out about it would be awesome.

Also, how do I clean it up - or even, should I clean it up (am I risking hurting "mojo", etc)?

Wow, this forum moves fast. Looking for some insight on the year, as I need to order a chassis tray.

Thanks!

1964-1968 B-15N. It has a 5AR4 rectifier which started with the B-15NC circuit revision in 64. That layout was gone by 1969 when they went to the squared-off style like the B25/V4/SVT.

And I'm willing to bet it's post 65 as my 65 B15NC doesn't have the patent numbers listed under the fuse or the UL listing like yours does.

If that's correct, it would be a B15NF, F being the circuit revision.

Josh and I were talking and we were thinking 65 or 66, but I wanted to get some other opinions.

Would I expect to see B15NF anywhere on it? I only see B15N on the top.

It's a 1967 Ampeg B15N. I would leave the amp as is since it's working fine. A little corrosion on the chassis won't hurt anything. You may want to wipe it down with denatured alcohol and a cloth.

Look at the date codes on the pots and let us know what they are.

Excellent. Thanks for the information.

I just brought it home last night, so the plan is to clean it up over the weekend.

All in all, I want to do a mild restoration on it. I have a cab from a 67 solid state portaflex that I'm going to clean up and put it in (the solid state is my gig amp).

I'll take a look at the pots tonight.

Don't wipe the mojo off. You'll **** something up. I say this because it is true... not because it's you doing it btw.

P.S. That amp is from June of 1965. Here is why.

The serial number range "049000 to 075000" matches the year 1967 according to your link. S/N 060015
falls within that range. Thank you for verifying my post.

The info provided by your link actually backs up AwkwardLoudness.
Looks to be mid 1967.

edit: Awkward beat me to it.

F is the circuit revision, you'd only see that on the schematic, which would be mounted to the chasis tray you don't have.

I forgot that the serial numbers for the 60s can actually be used, so yes this is definitely a 67.

Schematics are here:

Maybe if this was in the right thread Jimmy would have already swooped in and saved the day.
