idiot question about speaker jack wiring

hi cant figure out which lug would be positive/negative on these jacks,im assuming the farthest one would be positive and the closest negative http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?...emode=category

You've got it correct. The furthest one is +.

If you have an ohm meter you can verify this by inserting an instrument cable and connecting your meter leads to the furtherest connector lug and tip on the other end of your cable.

if i was the type of person with a ohm meter id not be asking dumb questions about jack plugs lol thanks for fast answer mate.

LOL.

It's always a good idea to do a battery test on your wiring to make sure you have the polarity correct in case the (+) on the driver is labelled incorrectly.

Connect the negative wire to the (-) on a 9V battery. Any small alkaline type battery will do. Momentarily tap the positive wire to the (+) terminal battery terminal. If it is wired correctly the speaker cone should move outward. Reverse the battery and the cone should move inward.

If your cab has more than one speaker, they should all suck or blow in unison.
