If you had an RH450, and a LM3, would you say they have a fairly similar tone?

Im considering getting an amp thats totally different to the LM3.

I have an RH450, and a LM3.

Im half tempted to sell the LM3 and purchase a GB Shuttle 9.0.

Why?

Im thinking the RH450 and LM3 both have that 'warm, slightly tube feel' to them. The LM3 is brighter, but still quite full and thick.

Ive been looking at the Shuttle 9.0 for a while, and its a little heavier featured than the LM3, and its lighter/higher powered.

Is this a good idea, or will I regret it?!

I wouldn't call the Shuttle 9 more heavily featured than the Lm3 by any stretch of the imagination. The shuttle has 3 bands of eq with a semi-parametric and a scoop/low end extend/bright button vs. the contour knob, low pass, and four band eq of the Lm3.

Probably more eq possibilities with the LM3.

I'd say that they are in the same tone universe, but they are dissimilar enough that I really enjoyed my LM experiences and really hated my RH450 experiences. You own both of them so I would suggest doing a shootout between the two and deciding for yourself if there's enough tonal difference to keep both.

The GB stuff is different than either the LM or the RH450. I'm sure you could EQ the GB stuff to be similar to the LM/RH450, but it's inherent tone is much wider, polite and sparkly up top. I prefer the LM to the GB and the RH450. I prefer the GB to the RH450.

If you want something in the same tone universe as the GB stuff, but what I consider a better tonal execution, check out the Tecamp Puma stuff. I know I've turned into a fanboy for them recently, but I really think they're amazing and would keep you in the same form factor as the LM and the RH450, but offer a different tonal pallette.. A bit spendy though.

I own the LMII, RH450 and have owned both the shuttle 6.0 and shuttle max 6.

I like the RH450 the most because of its features, but I agree tonally its in the same tone universe as the LMII, especially if you crank up the VLE.

Aside from tone, the RH450 just has way more going on. With the semi-parametric eq, you can really do some serious tonal sculpting.

The gb shuttle IS in a total different tonal universe, nice, but not my thing personally.
