I'm almost at the finish line, thanks to a lot of you!

So far, my new rig is almost complete. Oh, and just to let you know, this is my very first full rig that I've ever owned. I've mostly used PA or really small borrowed combos over the past 20 years, so this is kind of exciting for me!

I've decided to go the modular route, as some of you really patient people know. And I've decided to use the following:

Amp - Carvin DCM3000L, because the power options meet my needs.

Cabs - fEARful 15/6 @ 8ohms, 15" sub @ 8ohms (hopefully I can get the real deal).

Preamp - Undecided!

That's the right, I haven't decided on a preamp. Please chime in if you'd like to make suggestions. My 3 requirements is that it has to be tube preamp, have 2 separate channels, and not be extremely expensive (i.e. under $1000).

Some of you guys have been great (and patient with me)! I'm a noob and you've all helped out quite a bit!

If this thread isn't very effective, you will be seeing more from me related to preamps (just a warning).

I'm sorry - once you get the last pieces, you will find that they moved the finish line - and the GAS will start all over again!

My first choice would be the Alembic F-2B. They go for about $1,100 new, but you you can find them for around $600 used.

I hear ya, but I'm hoping that at least the cabs and amp will keep me happy for a while. I don't mind switching out preamps.

And you're talking to a guy that owns 5 basses including a 3/4 upright, 2 guitars, 2 banjos, and a blowup doll.

I've heard good things about them. This will definitely be one I'll be looking at. Thanks!
