I'm in love with a fat bottom cabinet.

I had a chance to use a 410 mesa cabinet last night, man it had a lot of bottom. (I'm in love) My question is what other cabinets out there will give me that kind of bottom? I'd love to get a Mesa cabinet, but I don't have that kind of money so looking for something that can come close.

Greetings from the North,

The TC115 Traynor is what you seek and will give you plenty booty.

I have the Mesa PH 610, and it does indeed have a ton of low end... A comparable, more affordable 410 with similar lows is Ampeg's SVT-410HLF... I've owned and played both plenty...

I donnow if any single 15" can give the low end booty ( tight arse booty ) of an array of 10's. Best I've heard local was a Berg 6X10, but Im not experienced.

The 410HLF sounds bottom heavy like that but to my ear, not much for clarity, sounds kinda muddy. Acme's would be a better choice if you've got amp power to drive them. They do trade some SPL in exchange for going deep.

Look for a used Ampeg PR410HLF, they can be had for under 500 regularly on ebay. I have one and its an absolute low end beast, the website claimed 36hz, I don't know if that is accurate but it gets very very very low. Had a few other cabs, avatar, hartke, etc...but this one takes the cake, heavy tho!

Are there any other suggestions other than Ampeg?

Save up and get a Mesa. You wont be sorry. I've had my PH1000 for 4 yrs. Love it. Only reason I'm trying to get two ampeg 8x10's is that Another matching cab to mine is so hard to find.

I was kinda wondering if you were you playing your V4B with that Mesa cab last night?

I was also wondering if you've ever played your current 1x18" cab/V4B on that same stage or room for a direct comparison?
(I'd think your 18" would go pretty darn low now, maybe your actually seeking stronger low-mids...)

I don't own a V4B head, have had one of those in long time, 1978 i think it was, but I do own a Acoustic 301 cabinet.

Haha, whats wrong with Ampeg?! They do make some great cabinets, especially before the inconsistencies of Loud!

Woops, I misread your profile.

So what amp will you be pairing with the cab you get?

I fully agree with you. And kind of retract my comment. The only Acme B2 I played was hilariously deep in extension. So it kills in the low end department.

But I would nevertheless not hesitate to claim that the other two I mentioned are a considerable step up from the other 1x12 cabinets I have tried by Markbass, Genz and EA.
