I'm a newb when it comes to amps!

Alright I'm looking to upgrade from my Peavey combo amp to something with a bit more power. I love the sound of Fender combo amps, and the Rumble 350 2x10 combo amp is something I'm interested in. However I'm having doubts if I could do gigs from small to large rooms with this amp, even though it's 350 watts with 2x10 speakers. I really want the Fender sound, but don't want but this amp if I'm just going to have to upgrade to a cabinet and head. So should I buy this or just keep my 75 watt Peavey amp until I have the money to get a Fender cabinet and head?

Check out the Acoustic amps, especially the B200 line. Great amp for the money and don't let the 200 watt rating fool ya.

350 watts is a powerful amplifier. If you play in a really large setting, if for some reason it is not loud enough, the soundman will most likely run an XLR from the amp and put you through the PA. You will certainly notice the upgrade from 75 watts!

However, I think the best advice is for you to take your time and shop around. Go to a music store with a large inventory, bring your bass, and try everything out. Don't limit yourself - try different brands and different models. Ask questions. Do some online research as well. But be sure to TRY them - go with the one whose sound you can't live without.

I myself bought an Acoustic B200 the other day on sale, and I absolutely love it. HUGE sound, big and warm, ridiculously loud for its size. I had played an SWR for many years but wanted something new. I tried out a bunch of different amps, and for the combination of sound and price, Acoustic was the clear winner. Maybe next time it will be someone else.

Good luck!

I've played Acoustics before and I like them, but do you think with some fine adjustment I could get that, as I call it, Fender punch? I played a Fender combo amp a few years back at a friends house (forget the model) and it gave this nice punch for slap while finger style was really smooth.

I just found this on MF.

for what you're wanting to do, i'd get a 410. they're a lot louder than 115's. 115's are great but you need two of them to equal a 410 in volume.

as for the fender sound, if you want that, i think you'd have better luck with hartke if you don't get a fender, since they use the fender style tone controls in their amps.

I've tried the Rumble 350 and liked it a lot, especially for the price. But unfortunately, I don't think it has a classic "Fender" tone. It'll be great for smaller gigs and when you hook up to the house PA. But, if you want "Fender" tone, you'll have to spend the big bucks for a TV Duo Ten or TV Fifteen (BTW, they are loud and have great distortion). I'm sure there are more economical ways then that.

Maybe look at the older Bassman Amps?

Acoustic B200H and B410 would be a good rig to start with:

If you need more add another 410 or 115 cab.
