the main problem is the $$$ i just went back to university and it is very expensive | Not saying this is your problem but just for general use:
The 8 and 10 inch (or even 12 and 15 for that matter) are only going to get so loud. If you want to play with a drummer you probably need a 12 or 15. If you do use a smaller combo with a drummer place the combo up high on a table or something to get the speaker pointing at your ears.
Also, the bass at 1 and the mid at 9 will probably sound very nice at individual practice volumes. But as you turn it up and play with others you won't be able to hear it well and you will turn it up even louder. That extra bass boost may be harmful to a small speaker (or even a larger one).
I would recommend turning the bass down and the mids up if you attempt to use a small combo at higher volumes. You should be able to hear it better and the low frequencies won't max out the speaker as soon. |

I've had it for a couple of years now with no issues. A good investment and keeps me from hauling my 2x10 combo around which is mostly over kill for most gigs.
Check 'em out.

I had a call at the end of the day from the shop, they will receive my ampeg ba-108 in a day or two..
So i'll finally know what will happen with my money, decision time is coming !!! | There are not any extra customs fees and charges when receiving product from Carvin, I am quite sure they pay the bill with UPS because UPS ALWAYS finds charges to add when bringing stuff over the border.
I have ordered a bass with Carvin and I paid the shipping price listed on the site, that was it. So just check on the site what shipping is for the item you are looking at and that is what it costs. And yes, Carvin is not the deal up north as they are in the states, I would love to get some of their P.A. gear and maybe an amp but I fear what service would cost me, even if it was under warranty.

The last great combo line I recall was the Epifani UL series, but like most combos that can deliver the way a 2-piece can, production ended with low demand and high costs. The Glockenklang 112 Passenger is still in production I think though. That's worth checking. Studio ready for sure and can hold down a variety of gigs. |

| | | | Bummer! I use a ba115 for band practice and have been abusing it for a couple of years with no trouble. It just lives in our rehearsal room and I keep saying I'll upgrade it when it dies. I run it hot, with bass and mid boosted and volume at about 7 and it takes it all with no trouble. Seriously must have thousands of hours clocked up on it. |

| | | | That music store would do itself a favor by dumping Ampeg and replacing it with a similarly priced but more reliable brand. |

| | | | I had a chat to a mate who works at a guitar shop over here (Australia) and he says they haven't noticed any reliability problems with ampeg gear at all. Off the top of his head he could only think of one warranty claim in the last year and they sell a lot. |

He told me that when he moved 2 months ago he founded his old traynor amp with a 6x10 cab... I gave it to me... I will pick it up next week-end. I will use it to play with my drummer friends.
I still need a practice amp at home.... I'm still waiting, one month to glue some seams, isn't a little bit long, i'm so pi{%^ off
When i'll have more money i will spend my money on an amp and cab + a vt bass pedal...

| | Nope! | | | | | We just got a TC BG250 in here at GC and I really like it a lot. Aesthetically pleasing and a pretty sweet tone. I'd go in and demo it if I were you... and then give a salesman a little commission when you decide to buy it. |

It's in your price range, sounds pretty good, carries easy and will probably be sufficient for jamming with a drummer and probably 1 guitar, if played not too loud. I sold it because it wasn't loud enough for a 2 guitar/bass/drum band.

| | | | I always get made fun of for my unorthodox ways on this site, but...
Do you just need the practice amp for bedroom levels? If so, here's what I do and it works very well. I have a Zoom Bx1 which has a headphone output. I connect the headphone out to a 2.1 computer speaker set that has an 8" subwoofer. It's loud and deep enough to rattle the windows. Been doing this for awhile without problems. I can get some pretty good tones out of this considering. Setup cost all of $120 US. Good luck with your search!
