I am looking to assemble a bass rig in our band's practice room so my Bass player doesn't have to schlep his gear around for rehearsals. I just acquired a semi vintage Peavey Bass head which is rated 200 watts @ 2 ohms. As far as a cabinet goes what should I be looking at as far as something to match up from an impedance/wattage standpoint since I figure finding a 2 ohm cabinet is not going to be easy living away from civilization (large city). More than happy to post more info if needed.
Thanks in advance
The 2 ohm rating is usually achieved with two cabinets of 4 ohms each. There's few, if any production 2 ohm cabs out there, but it's not too difficult to achieve with a two-speaker cab and two 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel. A decent quality 4 ohm speaker is going to perform ok. The amp won't develop full power, but it will probably be adequate for practice. 4 ohm cabs are fairly common.
