Can I use an 8 ohm cab with a 4 ohm amp or is it the other way around?

They're both 400 watts. The amp is a power amp (4 ohms), and the cab is a Hartke 410 (8 ohms).
I want an amp that doesnt color the tone. I want my processor (Boss GT-10B) to do that. I just want a plain amplifier.

If the amp is SS (no tubes) yes you can without any trouble, just a little less power output.
