The GK 212MBE is really awesome. 36 lbs, very neutral tone-wise, and it POUNDS! I'm only moving it because the DB112 cabs are more mid-centric which I like.
Tubes really aren't that unreliable.
I've got literally dozens of pieces of audio gear and amplifiers with tubes. I think I have had one 12ax7a fail in the last 5 years. Preamp tubes last a very long time, and it is simple to carry a spare tube. I like to wrap one in a sock then put it inside a little tin that I kept in my gig box. Now power tubes, those do act up.

You're going to love that rig. I have the same setup but my cabs are White Hot. I have a DB751 but for a lot of gigs I've just been bringing the TH500, it's that good!

I've had multiple tubes fail on me. I've never had a SS amp fail.

Thanks! I really wanted the white hot but was so paranoid of getting them dirty!

+1 While preamp tube are less of a problem than power amp tubes, if I can get a tone I like without the tube, I'm all over it.

I'm actually trying to downsize to a smaller non tube rig, mostly because I'm in my mid 40's and all those years of skateboarding and slam dancing are catching up to my back and knees.
TH500 is at the top of my list in that regard, though I am holding out for a boss brown AG500.
Still as far as tubes are concerned, quality preamp tubes last decades. I have RCA tubes I pulled from consumer hifi that work just fine. In fact they are the best damn tubes I have ever used and they have 50 years on them!
Now some of these New Sensor and Chinese tubes are not that robust I will admit. I am pretty annoyed when I spend a grand or more on some gear and it has $2 cheapo tubes!
I also wouldn't buy an amp that has a single token tube in it. That simply isn't garnering enough of the tube magic from that one tube to justify the possibility of a gig failure.

PS-I personally have had some SS amps die on me. Ampeg, GK and Acoustic.

So my 2nd DB112NT is still on backorder from MF and I have a show on Saturday. I'm pretty certain it won't show. I'm sure that I can't get by with just the 1 DB112NT, but my friend has an 8 ohm Carvin 410 which he said I can borrow. Do I throw my 8 ohm DB112NT on top of the Carvin 410 and rock?

I bought the Tone Hammer 500 and the DB212, I could not be happier. Sounds just great! Your two separate cabs brings extra options like using just one for a small gig.....cost a little more though. Enjoy

I have the TH500, and I have a GS112 on the way. I'm thinking I'll end up with a DB112 as well sooner or later. I like having the tonal options, especially since I'm a doubler.

I wouldn't. I'd just use the 410 cab. Plenty of volume in that & then no worries of blowing the 112.
8 ohms each is a huge mis-match - 112/410 8+()

Some shots before playing to a packed house with my band, Maybe Bomb, at Architekt Music in Butler, NJ.

My second cab is still on back order but the single DB112NT thumped with authority for me and Architekt's 8,000 watt PA handled the crowd.

Wait until you get that second DB112 (NT112 or whatever). That is IMO one of the best small rigs I've ever heard, assuming again you want a sort of 'miniDB750 into an 810) sort of vibe. Punchy, warm, articulate, fat, loud, and it looks GREAT. Enjoy!

So nice also to get that surprisingly tubey tone without the drama of tubes (even preamp tubes). Simple, reliable, loud. I still can't get over how cool that TH500 runs, even when pushed to its absolute limits.

Aguilar is definitely a company that makes gear for 'pros', regarding overdesign, simplicity, minimal 'basement options', etc.

Still quite impressed with that little box, and really impressed with the match with the DB cabs.

The second DB 112 NT finally showed up last night after being on backorder for a long time. Threw some rubber amp feet on the side opposite the handle using the screws on the corners. The stack is complete. Time to order some covers from LeCover.

Congrats man, that looks sweet.

I'm currently using a a DB900 DI + TH350 with one DB112 for my small rig. Now thinking about adding a DB112NT for slightly larger gigs. oh, the GAS pains...

Ease the pain - get the DB 112 NT! Its tone alone will ease the pain.

Thinking about picking up a TH500 as a backup/something different. I have the 2 DB112's and a ThunderFunk TH550 and I love the tone, but I'd love to have the TH500 too. Oh, i love the DB112's too, they're awesome...mine are Monster Green.

How does the NT sound by itself? Does it lack any definition?
