I've got a mesa boogie m-pulse 600 w/ 4 x 10 powerhouse cabinet, and I'm wondering weather out get a 1 x 15 cabinet or go for mesas portable walkabout scout.

Get an identical 410 for your current rig. Will sound like your 410 with more of everything you like. For gigs, you can use a 410 or both 410's. One 410 for practice.

Mesa Walkabout - why are you considering it?

Are you thinking the 15 to add to the 410, or to use the 15 with the head for smaller gigs, and asking if the Scout would be better for that?

If the 410 rig handles everything else, I'd say get the Scout.

+1 to what Gearhead17 said above. Getting a identical Mesa PH410 allows you maintain your tone and also gives you option to use one cab or both cabs when needed for larger venues or shows especially if no PA support is available. Also it is nice to have one cab at home and one at the practice space.

Why not a 2x10 or 1x12?

How many gigs will you honestly need two 410's for?

I run a Mesa M9 with a 4x10 cab and it is overkill for almost any size room. I have had great luck running a 2x12 with the M9 for smaller rooms and a 1x12 for basement rehearsals.

Why do want to get the 15? Search on here why the 115 and 410 combo is not so great. Jump on Google and you can find talkbass threads about the very subject.

If you want the 115 for small gigs and for bigger gigs the 410; go for it.

Two 410's are sometimes needed on festival stages - most of the bass frequencies go every direction imaginable and with no wall behind you, you need more firepower to hear yourself. Plus, if you have the PA rig in front of the stage, the roar and rumble from that will make a small rig nearly inaudible.

I was thinking that I would get something that would compliment my setup, but allow me portability. Do you think would compliment a
4 x 10 cabinet, 2 x10's or a 1 x 15.

Re-read the response's so far. What you're being told, and very rightly so, is that a 4x10 and a 1x15 is NOT a good pairing. If you want something to run WITH your current Mesa 410, the answer is another duplicate Mesa 410. Not a 115, 212, 210, or anything else. Matched cabs are always better than mixed cabs, especially where a 410 is concerned.

Yes… neither will behave in a complimentary way, but in a conflicting way.

Unless you’re building/buying a sophisticated cab that’s designed to work with various-sized drivers, you’re not doing your sound any good mixing cab sizes like that.

Only safe bet is to add an identical cab.
