Inquiry 1x10 and 1x12 combo

Sign in to disble this ad
Yo dudes. I recently bought a hartke 2000, which I'm running through a hartke 112c. It's frankly not loud enough, so I'll be selling the head, and buying (probably) an Eden e300. I don't wanna run the full 300 watts through my single 1x12, would the addition of an Eden ex110 be enough to handle it? Thanks dudes

is it a 300 watt head at 8 or 4 ohms? it might match the cab fine, just as well match your proposed rig fine. meaning with one 8 ohm cab you are only using like 150 watts max, but with two 8 ohm cabs you can use up to 300 watts. what's the cab's impedance? anywhoo depending on the use, what you said seems to me it would work fine.

The 1x12 is switchable between 4 and 8 ohms, the 1x10 is 4. The amp puts out 300 watts at 4 ohms

Your post is confusing, Are you running the Hartke 2000 thru a 112c? (A 112c is a combo). I assume you mean a HX112. If it is a HX112 I would suggest getting another HX112 and not the Eden. The extra watts will not be much louder and the Hartke head is more versatile. A extra cab will be louder.

And the Eden head is about the same price as a HX112.

Is it really gonna be that much louder with just another cab? Beyond the volume, it distorts way too much for my liking. I'm lookin for a more clear Mike Gordon type tone. I feel like 300 watts through a 112 and 110 would be louder than 200 through 2 112s, but you may be right. Any other input?

whichever you decide, learn about ohms law. if the 1x10 is 4 ohms, then it's the only speaker you can use with most amps.sometimes, just adding a speaker is all you need to make a drastic difference in headroom and tone. but i'd go 12 or bigger for the second cab.

Where do have the gain set at, and does it distort on both the tube and solid state pre amp. And yes a 2nd cab will be louder. Are you in El Sobrante Ca.? If you are just bring your rig down to GC Berkeley and hook it up to another cab to see how much louder it is.

A Hartke 2000 can only run 4 ohms min. So adding a 2nd 8 ohm is what you want.

Haha actually, Im a buffalonian. That's just a lame Primus reference. And I tend to have the tube and SS pre's at around 10 o clock, at full volume. That distortion really only comes when it's at full blast. I've also had some problems with the head, it's just shut down in the middle of a jam, which I don't think is acceptable aha. If you know whats causin that, I'd love to know

sounds like you need more speaker area all around. two 12s may just plain not be enough, and a 12 mis-matched with a 10 will likely be even worse (mis-matching cabs is bad, do a search on that!).

a good 4x10 box or pair of 15s will give you more headroom.
