Installing an ext speaker jack to Ampeg combo

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey there everyone,

seen a few threads about this but still not 100%,
I have a Ampeg ba115 it's great combo amp and I love the sound
And I just bought a 4x10 Ampeg cab and would love to just link them up.

Unfortunately theres no ext speaker out on the ba115, ive seen how to wire it up so only the cab would work but is there anyway of having them both working? my fender guitar combo can do it, any ideas?

The reason there's no ext spkr jack on that amp is because it's already running at it's minimum impedance. You cannot add an ext cab. You will need to find a seperate head for your new cab.

You could also get a power amp and run the di on the combo into the amp followed by the 4X10

+1

The only other option would be to disconnect the combo's internal speaker, then use the speaker wires from the amp portion to power the 410. The better way would be to leave the combo as is and like RickenBoogie says, get another amp to power the 410. This could be another bass amp if you like but could just be a poweramp. Could probably find one used for cheap. Doesn't even have to be that big or expensive if you can bridge it into the 410 ya know. Something rated 150 or so watts per channel or more at 8ohms would be fine.

Thanks guys, think I'm just gonna sell the whole lot and get a bigger combo like the fender TV or Ba300 seems the most sensible thing.

Thanks again though.

Nah the only thing you had wrong was trying to run the 4x10 and 1x15. Would not sound good, and the combined loads would be 4ohms. I can only guess the amp wants to see 8ohms for a single speaker combo. Running it below 8ohms might be a risk since it will get much hotter.

Just run a parallel jack with the built in speaker and they will both run.
again the load will be the built in speaker and the external speaker in parallel. Making a risky 4ohm load.

If you just run the 4x10 and its a 8ohm 4x10 that amp will run it just fine. And expect a slight volume increase by adding more speakers by using the single 4x10 cabinet.
