Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 4 ohm Glockenklang Quattro being powered from a Soul II and have been thinking of powering the cabinet from a TecAmp Puma 1000 or the new 1RU 900 when it's available.
What would the IP310 have over this assuming the pre amp is a Glock Bass Art or should I just forget it and grab an IP310 ? |

I would take that over the Quattro combos you mentioned, hands down. I also own a pair of duos, which when used together is essentially a quattro. The IP is really amazing, and the BAC preamp is wonderful - somewhat similar to your soul tonally, but much better. If you can swing the BAC/IP310 I'd definitely do it.
FWIW,
Jim

| | | Glock BAC pres don't seem to be available here in the States. Since you can I'd jump. Though discontinued too, an IP310 will spank most 410s. The combination works for quiet coffee house gigs up to no PA support outside loud stuff.
The magic will happen when you hear them together !!!! |

I don't own one, but I have played one; my current rig is in my sig.
Then there's the IP153...with the powered sub...I can't even IMAGINE 2,000 watts of Berg IP...2x15's, 2x6's, and a beautifully balanced, custom designed horn...Tom will tell you about it...tha must be just SICK...
Get the IP if you can..report back to us when you do. You'll run out of superlatives just like we have...people will think you're full of ****, but you'll know you're not...you'll see... join the club...it's fun!
Cheers,
Cameron

Not to disagree and I could be wrong, but the IP153 sends 500w to the 15" and 500w to the 2x6" + tweeter. When the EX115 is added the 2 15"s see 1000w and the mids and highs get their same 500w.
I only know that my two guitarists with Boutique Fancy Dandies looked bewildered and my drummer's mouth was open after our first tune at an outside no PA support gig. Kern pre. Visual distortion like standing in front of a Sunn 2000s where everything is blurred.

Must still be devastating, though, even with a measly 1,000 watts.
And the best recorded bass sound I have ever got is my IP miked with an AKG 414, about one foot out in front of the woofer, not too close to the tweeter...heavenly. Will post some clips of that session when I get them.
Cheers,
Cameron

I like Puma amps a lot, but you wouldn't be able to take full advantage of the Puma 1000 dual power amps using a single 4 ohm cabinet. Optimal load is one 8 ohm cab (bridged) or two 4 ohm cabs (not bridged). Minimum impedance for bridged operation is 8 ohms.
