Should be ok. Your GK 1/8 aux input will combine the stereo into mono.

is there any way to get it to stay in stereo?

or does it go mono for a reason?

because the two speakers play the same sound. stereo would be lost...i dunno about how amps would work but i know some speakers that are supposed to play in mono, when they receive stereo input they only play one of the channel.

It should play both channels as mono thru both speakers or its a crappy aux in.
