Issue w/Ashdown ABM500

Sign in to disble this ad
Before I run her into the shop for repair, maybe someone has some ideas for me to try.
ISSUE: Past 10 hours of playing it, the Amp has been cutting out for a second or two only. Usually when I'm hitting the strings hard. When it kicks back in, I'm getting full power. Today I turned her on. No sound at all. Using the scientfic method I tapped (mildly banged) the right rear of the amp where the transformer resides. Amp goes on to full power. Eventually it cuts out. Seems like a "short" somewhere. Any advice for me, with the caveat that I'm not technical enough to be fiddling wtih transformers. Thanks in advance gents.

Try banging it on the side, that worked on a tv I once had.

Seriously though, there may be a protection circuit kicking in earlier than it's supposed or to protect itself from some other problem. Perhaps weak caps that can't recharge fast enough. Sounds like it's tech time.
