Thanks to Renaissance my custom 24.6 is finally in my hands!

Only 14 months after ordering on it 2/09/09 with a promised 4-6 week delivery time.

Of course, I still need to deal with the grill that Marc never produced, and the L-pad, which is in it's box from Parts Express, needs to be installed by me. But hey, at least I got it. From doing some initial playing with it using several of my basses I may not even need to install the L-pad as it seems balanced between the drivers; any advise on this?

The cab gets very loud but has a bit of a upper bass/lower mid hump, typical of Marc's cabinets (I have now sampled three of his products), maybe once the drivers are broken in things will improve.

I own a 2460 and a 1580, but I've never heard of the 24.6. Please tell us more about your new cab, which, as you know, doesn't officially exist without pictures

I'm more than a little curious about your buying experience (the Readers' Digest version will suffice), particularly the L-pad?

One thing you can do with those cabs is consider adjusting the porting too. I've measured some of them and the tuning frequency and port dimensions are often quite odd. Either the tuning is very low or the port area is too small, etc.

I've got a 3080 I've been sitting on forever because of the limited port area and low flow grill causing issues. Good cab, but some design lacking that could have made it great.

The 24.6 is a design of mine (I came up with the basic idea and driver choices) that Marc built. It is a vertically aligned 2-12 with a 6 1/2 mid/high driver above them, narrow and tall front baffle, all FaitalPro drivers. Pics have already been posted elsewhere.

Congrats Jeff (I guess). Only wish it came as ordered, and much sooner!

I have been playing with the cab to try and break it in before my gig Saturday evening at the horse show. Man, does this thing get LOUD! Sounds great cranked up, but I will have to remember to wear my earplugs.

Are you referring to port area or total volume of the port? I can try and measure it and the internal cab dimensions if that will help you figure out if it is correct.

These are pics that Marc sent me on 12-31-09, I plan on waiting till I get a grill on it before making good photos of it, hopefully in a couple weeks.

Ugh. How does he possibly think putting the same amount of port area on a 2x12 as is on a 1x12 is OK?

Thanks for the pics! I've always wished my 2460 were tall and vertically aligned like yours.

Give or take because of the curvature, the ports are 4"h x x4"w x 5"d each.

LDS is making a similar one for me using 3012LFs and a 18Sound 6 1/2" mid. I assume his will have better/more correct porting in it. I want to compare the two cabs once I finally get it from Don, it will be vewwwyyyyyy intewesting, indeed.

Nice Jeff.

Imvho I think a better way to port the V212/6 would be 2 rectangle ports on either side of the mid.

Good to hear that someone's getting what they paid the Doctor for, even if it is eventually.

It's a really nice form factor. Narrow and tall is definitely the way to go, IMHO. As is vertical alignment.

Now, about getting that porting and tuning right...
