I can't decide between the Berg AE4X10 or the Glockenklang Quattro cab. Any thoughts or suggestions? I play a LMIII with Spector basses modified with Aggie obp3 and Nordstrand Fatstacks.
Thanks for any advice on these two cabs. |

Seems to be a really thoughtful, smooth crossover. Silky. The AE410 sounds louder -- i.e., it has more of a mid emphasis, less deep lows (though still totally the vibe of a BASS cabinet). Brighter up top.
Both are great. I loved the Glockenklang, though. |

BTW, I'm not sure of the availability of Glock these days in the US, as they had been without a distributor for some time. (So getting a new one might not be so straightforward - you might have to buy through a foreign dealer.)
I prefer Glock but you've picked two great cab's, so it's hard to imagine "dissatisfaction" either way.

Jim | I think Brian at LowEnd bass is now the distributor/retailer in the US. Not sure though, but I believe he is carrying the line now. |

| | | I don't know much about the Glock, but are you referring to the Glockenklang Quattro or Glockenklang Quattro Neo version? Since the AE410 is Neo and there's roughly 20 lbs difference in either of these Neos compared to the standard Glockenklang Quattro 410.
Of course weight may not be an issue.......
And for those that know, is there a discernable difference between the Glockenklang Quattro and the Glockenklang Quattro Neo?? I would guess so, but really have no experience with these cabs to speak of.......
just thought clarification all around might be a good thing..... |

I regularly gig the Berg AE410 with LMII. Quite happy. Though I can't really help you vs the Glock specifically. |

Not saying you shouldn't get the brand you want, but I bet you can find one of those used that's still in great condition, and bank a few hundred dollars at least. |

Editor-in-Chief, Bass Gear Magazine | | Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: North central Ohio | | | To expound a bit further on the merits of those two cabs, I hear the AE410 as being very tight and clear, with a slightly emphasized upper midrange attack. It has impressive depth, but is not as full as some other 4x10's (though it's far from thin or anemic). I have not spent much time with a Quattro, but I own a Take 5, which is in the same sonic ballpark. The Take 5 has an amazing mix of punch, fullness and clarity, with a bit of growl to it, as well as an apparent midrange peak (which might add to this growl). It is very "big" sounding, yet quite controlled. The Glock is more warm, for sure, and it also goes pretty deep, but is not universally full from the lowest lows up through the low-mids. The Glock has a very nice high end to it, but I have to give the nod to the Berg for having the "prettiest" high end.
These are two very strong performers, and again, I think that it will come down to the individual player's personal preferences.

| | Registered User | | | | | Thanks everyone for the info. I suppose I'm still trying to find my sound. A friend let me play his quattro with a F1 and my spector and it was amazing. I've only heard other players on the Berg and it sounds equally as good. I play r&b AND too 40 in one band and classic rock in the other. Seems I've gone thru trying out many cabs and haven't quite found "My Sound" I want a more modern tone, crisp AND defined and articulate without being boomy or muddy sounding.
Hope this sheds more life on my choices in these cabs. |

42lbs, as sensitive as any 4x10 and able to get as loud as almost any 6x10 due to increased excursion.
