Gallien-Krueger Backline 600 amp and a

Gallien-Krueger Backline 210 BLX-II

I'm just practicing at this point with a band further down the road if I still "have it"

Thanks ahead of time.

In my limited experience, the amp is good, the cab, not so much. Maybe go with an avatar 2x10 instead (for an economical option)? or something local and used.

I never plug into an amp to practice, though it's probably going to be fun to move some air for you after all that time away. Just chiming in to say that it might not be necessary to buy an amp right now.

Never have liked the Backline cabs.

I'd look used or Peavey if you need to go cheap.

Agred. The 600 (biggest of the backline series) is a pretty good sounding amp and it has gig worthy power so you won't be putting yourself in the position of having to upgrade by getting a gig. Don't know much about the cab. Just shop around and get a smallish cab (210, 112, 115) you like the sound of and make sure it's an 8ohm version so you can stack another one with it for more volume later if needed. Adding speakers always gets you a bigger volume increase than pumping more power into the same speaker. The modularity is nice too, take one for practice, small gigs, both for bigger stuff.

Agree with previous posts.
Backline 600 is a good budget amp.
Backline cabs - not so much.
Buying new or used? If you buy used - there's a lot more in your price range.
If buying new, go Avatar for your inexpensive-but-decent 210.

I would find a used GK RB head of some kind and GK cab, not the Backline stuff. They are generally very affordable.

Thanks guys. It's both for 200 bucks, used. Rich kid who gave it up after a few months.

I also have a line on this:
Peavey Mark III Series Centurion Bass Head (Series 260C)
2 Peavey Model 115 Bass Enclosures

I'm getting both after work today. Talk about more than I need right now

That old school peavey stuff owns... you should be fine for another 25 years.

Glad I brought my bass and some patch chords. That Peavey amp had a blown channel That was a major bummer. The cabs where in pretty good shape but had obvious water damage at the back of them so didn't pursue the deal further. Ah well, maybe next time.
