This thread is making me yearn for my 2008 rig - a used GK 400RB-III on top of a plank of plywood on top of some foam padding on top of a discontinued Eden 1x12 cab with a $60 replacement speaker on top of an Ampeg SVT15-e. I think I have pictures around somewhere, but haven't turned them up.

Not as out there as others, but...

Ampeg BT-15 (mounted in a flight case) running into a MosValve power amp.
2x15 Peavy cab rebuilt to run mono 8ohms or stereo 4ohms (Peavey 2x15 Project - Complete).

Cab with the grill:

Is that a zoom pre? To that I would add a crossover and a decent sub. You would rule.

I must say I am now inspired to buy up every cheap amp/cab I come across and piece me together a big ugly wall of sound and thunder.

The first scratch/dent is always tough, but every one after that is added mojo.

My first bass rig was a peavy backstage 50 that smelled of cheese when turned on and an Acoustic research Ar3a wired up with crappy speaker wire and E tape to the peavy.
Unfortionatly I don't have any pics of it. Also for my first upright bass pickup, I wired a piezo element ripped from a kids toy to a cable and shoved it under the bridge. I do have a video of me playing both (badly) at my first jazz gig ever in middle school.

2nd rig of janky doom. Craigslist and yard sale special.
Thing sucked but back in early HS it was loud and that's all that mattered. It makes me laugh to look back and see the crazy gear I used to play. Now I play my beloved acoustic 360 or my GK 700 rbII with ampeg cabs.

Janky just for fun...I never gigged it...the Peavey 412TVX made that poor lil' Avatar 210 null and void.

All I can imagine is you stepping on the cable and end up wearing a Fender combo as a hat...

I no longer own my jank stuff anymore and you guys make me miss it!
The only thing I disagree with jank wise is all the hate of the Ashdown blues! Now granted the Mag series isn't all that impressive but even then my old Mag 115 is still going.... and sounds great if you scoop out the gross mids a bit!

I do miss that "super stack" as it was called. Sounded terribly but did the job.

Was the combo the preamp? Or was the stack not quite loud enough without that little extra oomph?

Nedd moar tech specs pls!
