I tried many different ways of routing the signal. I think that last night, biamping won!
It sounded great. I ran the highs (cutoff is 100Hz I think) to the Avatar 210 and the lows to the Acoustic 115). But for the record I did not split it that way because I think that the bigger speaker produces deeper lows. I did it because I am less worried about blowing the Acoustic. I was gonna try it both ways but it sounded so good like that, plus, like I said, I luv the Avatar more. And the Acoustic seems to be holding up like a champ. I've got all the knobs on the MB200 at noon and both channels of the QSC dimed. It's the bottom-of-the-line QSC, I think - the GX3. One reason I picked it was that it wouldn't be so easy to blow out either cab with it. (Main reason was that it was cheep. Jank!)
There is probably no scientific reason why this sounded so much better than running both cabs full range, but it did. With the highs up top they seemed to cut through really well, and the lows on the bottom seemed like an awesom fog of doom.
Doing it all even more wrongly, I turned that top cab 90 degrees to blast the drummer, and left the bottom cab facing me. For once he had no problem hearing me. (I do worry about his ears.) And I heard myself fine. I liked how the cabs were mixed, even with both just full-on dimed.
I loved it; my drummer (and only bandmate) loved it. I think the rehearsal setup is done. For now

A long time ago I was in a punk band called "smog" (no relation).
The original idea was to be a 2 bass band but I lost my bass (and my Ludwig Vistalites!) in a fire. So the next idea was to play guitar. Weird I know. My girlfriend gve me her Ibanez Roadstar Strat-a-like. I had to tune it like a 6 string bass to keep from getting lost.
Well for gear my rig was a Peavey 12" PA speaker minus the tweeter. The head was this abomination that was a bit smaller than a toaster. It was mostly made out of metal except for the sides which were covered by duct tape and cardboard. This weird no name pocket head had no brand name on it and just a few knobs for gain, volume and tone. A lot of other East Bay punk bands had used it at one point or another. It should probably be on a wall in some hard rock cafe or something.
It would get pretty loud and with its own distortion plus a DOD Overdrive (the yellow one whatever that model is) it could even sound mean. When it got too loud it would start complaining by getting quieter until you had to leave it alone for a while. Then it was fine. We played 3 shows, then broke up because the drummer didn't think you could make proper feisty punk rock with a "chick singer". That drummer you may know as Brett, from Rancid.

I think "janky" and I imagine stuff thats half blown, abused and used wrong. Like big old home stereo speakers being run off of a car power amp fed by a OD box with the gain down and the volume up.

Come on some of you guys must have a 4x10 with two drivers replaced with car audio subs that_dont_fit_the_holes.
Or maybe a blown combo gutted andused as an extension cab for pa head with the knobs all broken off. Not that I have ever played through anything like that...

I returned to my Alma mater and visited my son during Michigan Tech's Winter Carnival last weekend. One of the highlights includes student built ice/snow sculptures... On that note, here's what a bunch of engineering students do when they have time on their hands...the round speakers are 15s. Had this been built during my time at Tech, I would have plugged my bass into it for sure!

Not that I have ever played through anything like that... | One of my first bass rigs was bass => Behringer rack EQ => two ancient Crest p3500 lead sleds => two even more ancient Toa model 30-SD loudspeakers and two prehistoric Yamaha S2115H floor wedges. The power amps and speakers were old when I bought them in the mid-'90s; back then I fronted a rap-metal band. They held up like champs for me all through my frontman years but when I was reborn as a bass player 5 years ago I blew one of the Toas in like, a day.

My band bought them from a motvational speaker guy that had about a dozen he was selling fro $50 each. The horns were very good. Must have been a JBL reverse engineer or something.
I found a pic of the same model. http://cornwall-on.canadianlisted.co...rs_792107.html
My rig then was a dod preamp pedal (yellow one) Peavey PA head>these two cabs.
Man that was annoying!
