Mark,
I wish I had one with the nice faceplates and such. The ones I'm working on now are a bassman tube preamp circuit and I had just recently started a b15 preamp. Both to run into DI's to get the amps' tone stacks before the FOH. The "innards" are very nicely done too. Very pretty.

Yes, Jimmy made a very funny joke and I laughed really hard...... But I'm kinda jealous......it's a sweet build!!!!!

Whoever is doing it for you seems to be doing an outstanding job.

1967 was the changeover from blue check to black tolex and piping. The circuit, speaker, and single baffle cab were all the same. Interestingly, Kustom bass cabs of that era came with the same CTS 15" speaker as the B-15. I'll snag my serial number tomorrow when there aren't people sleeping.

My grill cloth isn't stock. I dig it though. It cost me $700 in non-working condition when I picked it up in Columbus. I've got quite a bit in it now. D'oh.

I was surfing Youtube and came across this video featuring an Ameg Devil bass through an SB12. Rare combination!

Talented dudes.

I wanted to reach into the screen and turn the tone knob down on the bass though

There is also an Ampeg SSB short scale bass behind the bassist -which is even more rare then the Devil Bass.

I guess that's not the model that Target stocks.

Can anyone direct me to a source of information for component testing? Still blowing the fuse. Caps aren't open or shorted but their values are off of the spec. Testing of impedance at transformers seems low, but I'm not sure what they should be. Digging in deeper, hoping things aren't just wholesale toasted...

I can make some suggestions but first, under what circumstances is the amp blowing fuses. Do you have all the tubes plugged in, the speaker connected, turn on the power with the amp in standby and the fuse blows? Does it blow under a different configuration?

Good question. After I got the power and speaker connections repaired, tried it all hooked up and it blew. Actually just tried it again with tubes removed (had also removed the 30/600 cap, which measured in the high 40's). and the fuse did not blow. To me the tubes don't look bad just visually, but I'm not sure I'm looking close enough. It has a groove tubes solid state rectifier - with one small suspicious looking char-mark inside... very small though, not sure how to test this. Prob could replace with a 5AR4.

Is the solid state rectifier a newer mod? I have had trouble with those blowing the fuse on both a B15n and a B18X.

The rectifier is pre-me, but a relatively new mod. I don't think the previous owner used it much after putting this set of GT's in with that rectifier. (I acquired it with a blown fuse and never saw it working)

If you can get your hands on a 5AR4 rectifier tube, I would try that in place of the solid state one next.

This is the one that has given me trouble with blowing fuses in the past:

Yes - I am thinking about getting the 5AR4 tube. A guitar friend of mine just recommended a Weber copper cap ss rectifier - any experience with those?
