At what you paid for it, you could put some money into it to clean it up and still be way below market value. Would I do it? Maybe The tolex is kind of beat. But it's original, so there's two schools of thought with it. I would definitely replace those duff unoriginal knobs, though.
Great thread title, Bill! Thanks!

Originally Posted by jb1331 I just got this amp yesterday for $110 and ran across this forum! No Sound when I was considering buying it, but my suspicions were the latches were corroded and not transmitting signal to the speaker.. Did not test that long as it is a no-no with no load going to a speaker. After buying it and getting it home, I ran wire directly from the speaker to the knobs where the latches connect... WORKS GREAT! I am actually a guitar player and have this hooked up to an HD-500 running stereo with my Vox and it produces a wide soundscape (this amp is obviously warmer than my Vox), but combined it is awesome.. Loving the tone alone with my 98 Swamp Ash USA strat.. very warm, creamy tones with delicate highs, and plenty of bottom end (since it is a bass amp).. very nice! Gonna have a lot of fun recording with it.
I currently have new latches , knob, and handle on order from fliptops (with the 'weird' tool all for $47). Looks rough, but sounds amazing with little noise and no hum! Surprising that the pots aren't even scratchy. Everything is original (not sure about the tubes since I can not read anything on them). One of my best amp purchases ever, even though it looks grunge..total invested so far $157
Even with the tolex and missing labels, any idea what it is worth? Should I invest in putting a new tolex and labels on it, or leave it 'reliced' ? Am I in the club now lol? | SCORE
