JoeMeek SixQ: bass preamp

Anyone tried it? It has a pretty deep feature set for 1 rackspace.
I'm courting one as a mic pre, but any positives will probably seal the deal. Thoughts?

BIG JoeMeek fan here! Although, I'm not familiar with any "dark green" units, nor mic pre or EQ by JoeMeek. I am very familiar with their compression. Spent many years with the original SC2, and have the SC2.2 in my own studio. I love it on EVERYTHING!! Sometimes modestly, sometimes completely smacked!

I am also a big fan of "iron" in my input signal chain. I love how transformers effect the sound.

For these 2 reasons (JoeMeek colored comp with the option of a transformer), I highly recommend this unit for your bass pre. And at about $350, you really can't go wrong! Especially if you can use it for a mic pre for recording, where it really shines!

It's just one man's opinion... But if the newer comps are as good as the originals (lighter, "f'uglier" green colored), I believe you'll love it too!

Cheers!

I have one and love it. I've used it as a preamp into a power amp and as a di direct to the board. The eq is great and the compressor is really good. Best of all, it is also VERY good for vocals and general recording. I've heard better but, not for this price. The compressor is better in this unit than the avalon 737 that I had. I can't recommend it enough. It's one of the few pieces of gear that I've had for several years. That means something.
