Cute girl!

I kind of chuckled a bit, having read the recent thread with all the guys talking about not being able to hear any bass in the mix at this band's concerts.

You wonder if he wouldn't be better off with a J Bass, a GK800RB and a Hartke 410 with a mic on it. Replace the tech with a nice true bypass pedal tuner, and play some music!

Notice speakers are not mentioned! I think they just send all that stuff to his in-ears, and nothing to the PA.

Yes i noticed that too. Last years tour I saw some cabs on stage but he might have done away with them.

I've got great seats for tomorrow's show in Grand Prairie. I'll try to remember to check in after the show on what it sounds like this tour.

For all the flack he gets for live tone (or lack there of), he sounded great the last time through the Dallas area-when they opened for Iron Maiden. Very audible, and great tone.

He hasn't used on-stage speakers for a really long time.

Nah, with their same soundman, it wouldn't make any difference!

That's a pretty slick rig. Like his tech said, way way pared down from the stuff he used to run for sure.

Long while ago yes, he was using iso'd Mesa 410 and 212's before apparently now he's cab-less and just using the JDX.

I believe he switched to Mesa Boogie sometime in the early 2000's. Most of the time, they have remained off stage, though.

Edit: Looks like Rockstar beat me to it.

I would almost kill to have an unlined fretless stealth Bongo 6H with that kind of neck...and I pretty much just play Fenders.

I saw DT a few weeks ago in Montreal. John's tone was a bit muffled( it was a very boomy venue and John Petrucci was waaaay too loud) but during his soloed parts it came through quite clearly. It was a trip to see him playing the Moog pedals. His new setup seems a bit Geddy inspired as well. Pre's to a power amp to a cab simulator. I am biased though as I met JM and all the guys back in 2004. He was a super nice guy, shy but so was I

I like his pedalboard. Nice midi switcher, volume pedal, Taurus pedals, and BOOM! full rack tuner on the floor...

Kinda puts that gigantic Boss stage tuner into perspective.

I think I remember reading somewhere recently that he's now using all DEMETER stuff... tube DI, solid state power amp and Demeter Cabs with unique speaker configurations ( 12" + 8" )
