Johnson JA-V70B "Vintage" Amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Every week when my son goes to practice the guitar teacher plugs him into this little green n yella 70 watts RMS amp. I must say it puts out a sweet sound. Also, it has two inputs which allows both of them to play together.

Funny thing when trying to research it or even search TB I come up with virtually nothing.

Anybody know or have played with one before. I would like to know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Neal

I did some more research and nothing. I did find another site www.elevation-music.com that sell the Johnson line of amps but the specs they do publish is not much either.

The guitar teacher offered me the amp and I could not resist.

I've seen quite a few in pawn shops around here while scrounging for deals. Usually little 15 watt beginner amp models. Never plugged into one. I assumed they were another one of many cheap beginner type amps but I could be wrong. Something like that would be handy for giving lessons.

So how's it sound as an around the house practice amp? Most I've seen are little guitar jobs but once in a while, you run into one that for whatever reason sounds much better than one would expect. It certainly does look nice.

It sounds very nice as a practice amp. It's has a 12" speaker that puts out 70 watts and has a 2.5" tweeter that can be switched off.

Features:
70 Watts RMS
12" Woofer
2.5" Tweeter
Tape In Jacks
Vintage PVC Covering
3-Band EQ
Headphone Jack

...yeah it is cheap Chinese by AXL and would not do well for gigs but around the house it is sweet. Quality seem quite good (for a 10 year old amp) but I would not push it too far.

Cool, I can appreciate little practice amps that still "sound like a bass" and let you get loud enough to enjoy it without farting....which doesn't have to be very loud at home.
