You are right. As I recall, he didn't look like he was having any difficulty with it.

The GK stats say the Aux is looking for consumer audio level (-10 db), so you will have to run the Line Level from Monique pretty low to avoid over-driving it. But level-wise you will be OK.

I agree, an effects loop seems much more straightforward. And we do not know exactly where in the amp the "Aux In" hits. Is it before the EQ or after, or in the middle of the pre-amp? That kind of detail can make a big difference.

When you can find the means get a good amp used. Anything not remotely the quality of Monique will only show Monique's beauty in a less or modest way.

The ART SLA-1 sounds REALLY GOOD with Monique and a Berg AE210.

Pretty damned loud for 200w bridged at 8ohms, too.

It is enough power for a fairly loud jam but in my basement it is impressively loud. No clipping with Monique's output dimed and my super loud Spector 5er at full volume.

I may take Tom Cat's advice and spend a few more bucks for the SLA-2 (400w bridged), but I am initially impressed with ART. Quality gear for cheap is my first thought. I have a rehearsal tomorrow morning (small room and I only use a TC Electronic 1x12 cab). Looking forward to seeing if the SLA-1 is enough.

Not sure I agree with you on that.... And I had this exact same "spirited conversation" with Jule last night on the phone regarding tonal advantages of the pricy Demeter power amp for Monique.

IME, there is not much of a difference in Monique's tone with my all tube Mesa, my SS Crest power amp, the ART SLA-1 and various other amps I have tried with Monique. Headroom being equal, power is generally power IMO.

The main reason I need more than just my current Crest poweramp is that I own a dove cage Monique, but also ordered a rack Monique. Long story, but owning just one amp isn't an option for me based on my travel schedule and luggage issues, multiple rehearsal spaces, too cold to leave gear in my car in the winter, etc. I am selling my Mesa D180 to fund the majority of my rack Monique is anyone is interested.

I don't know if the Demeter is an advantage or not. We may be discussing two different things here. A used pro PA amp is going to have components that are designed to be reliable and for our conversation have lower THD than budget home studio amps. Other design elements make for sonic excellence.

Having heard the Monique unchained is hope that folks would go for the best amp their finances will allow. Not in cost but quality.

That Monique sounds the same through different amps says so much about Monique.

No. Not terrible.

I wish Jim was on this end of the country so I could pick his brain.

Thank you Chadds.

The day one, original focus was to give players a tool that would make everything sound better. Seems rather grand in retrospect all these years later, but that was the intent.

But, like everything we love to do, the more we commit to the endeavor the better it feels.

I love what I have been given an opportunity to do.

I'm on a wedding gig right now. No amp allowed, showed up to a cheap DI box. I took Monique out of the car and sat it on the planter in the corner where I'm stuffed. When I can hear the bass it sounds good (no stage monitors - instead mains spread around the room). The glowing bottles give me solace.

I am very interested in the Minnie power amp. I would like to know if it was possible to assemble / fixing it under Monique. I thought of removing Monique's rubber feet, drilling the frame of the amp above and below, and both with screws which would cross the amp throughout then in the holes of Monique's rubber feet. Provided that the minnie's vent grill are not on the top of the frame and as well as no Minnie's components hamper the passage of the long screws. The set should go into the Monique's gig-case, if I remove one of the froths (mosse ) of protection which is in the gigcase.
P.S : Sorry for my very bad English translate.

I said above that, "I didn't know if the Demeter was an advantage or not". I must edit that to say "sonically".

I haven't played it or heard it. The packaging idea is excellent in that you get to use Monique either as a pre or integrated amp.

Jule and James (Demeter) know what they're doing!
Jule and Jim (Bergantino)? That I know about! Whoa!
