Just bought my new Rig!

Okay, this is super pointless, but I'm really excited. Just got a used Hartke 3500 head with an Acoustic B410 cab for $550 including tax. There was a Guitar center coupon that was $10 off on purchases over $49 and $100 0ff purchases over $499, and before tax and warranty, mine was $499.98, so that seemed like it was going to be really awesome, but then I saw that Used items didn't count. So that was stupid. But I got it!

The only problem is that I'm moving in to college on Sunday, and it probably won't get here until then, so I won't get a chance to play it for several weeks. But I'm super excited. Getting it to gigs might be a problem, because I don't have a car or a license, but I'm sure that if the situation ever arises something can be figured out. My house is like 5 minutes away from campus, so it's not like it's in another state or anything.

Happy new amp day! I love the Hartke LH3500. If I were you I'd browse craigslist/the Talkbass classifieds for another 4x10/cabinet and get the most out of the stack!

Heh, I would, except I just spent all my money on that Amp and cab. The Cab is 8 ohms, though, so I could get another If I so chose.

Still bummed that I don't get to play it until My first break. Maybe I can take some time next weekend.

I personally never purchase equipment from GC besides strings/accessories and tend to just try out basses before I buy... and never really liked the GC Acoustic amps/cabinets.

But, to my experience the Hartke heads sound fantastic with Hartke cabinets (although a friend of mine plays through a Mesa Powerhouse 4x10 and gets great sound out of it).

But, I get the money crunch... I'm trying to find an affordable 410RBH to finish my rig, myself.

Yeah, that's the thing, the nearest Guitar Center is About an hour away, and since I can't drive, it's really inconvenient to get out there. And With the amount of money I have to spend, I really feel like I really can't be picky. I've never really played on anything else, so I'm sure the Acoustic cab will sound great to me. And from what I've heard, for the $300 that I had in my budget for a cab, people here told me that the Acoustic is Much better than others in that price range.

Other than that, I'd love to try a Hartke cab, because they started out making speakers and not amps, so It seems like that would be their "Specialty". I wonder what it would be like if you got a "Dark" sounding 4x10 and complimented it with another "Bright" sounding 4x10... Like a Paper cone one with a Hydrive cab... Interesting...

But Yeah, even though the Cab isn't the best cab, I doubt I will have any complaints. The GC reviews were overwhelmingly positive. And like I said, at a point in my search, I sort of decided that I'm not really in a position to hold out for the best gear, and gear that sounds just fine is perfect.

The Head is supposed to be amazing, so no complaints there, it will be easy to get a new cab later.

If you're anything like most TBers, you'll be lusting over deals in the classified sections Happy gigging!

Couldn't you have added a new pedal or something to your purchase, to equal the $100 coupon...and basically gotten 100 dollars worth of free stuff? Or am I missing something. Anyway, enjoy your new setup.

Well, I could have, But I only had around $600 total, and I'd have ended up paying $200 more, and with Tax, it would have broken the bank. I just didn't have enough else to buy that would have been worth it. I just didn't have enough money. I deliberated for hours, though.

I love that head! I've played heads 3 or 4 times the cost of the hartke, and I think it's sounds and cranks just as hard!

The 3500 is the best head for the kind of money you spent - bar none. I had one a while back. Apart from it being a bit heavy, it delivers plenty of power and tone for what it costs. Enjoy it.

Had an HA5000 for YEEEEEEARS and loved it. Good job on NOT buying Hartke speakers though. BLAH! Love my new GK MB500 head. Weighs in at around 4lbs. and gets the job done with that classic GK Tone

I get the feeling that the 10 band EQ will spoil me.

"Man, I really like the sound of this Ampeg head, but it only has a 3-BAND EQ! How am I supposed to find my tone with THIS!?"

But I'll have to get out and try other cabs before I get a new one. The Acoustic isn't the best, but it's safe, and does its job, from what I've heard. Now I can't wait to look for other Cabs and stuff. I love getting new gear way too much. :P
