Just a CARVIN rant

Sign in to disble this ad
I just don't understand why Carvin won't make a BRX10.6(6X10) cab!?!? Would that not be a popular cab from them forus to buy? Any thoughts?

Eh I stopped caring about Carvin when realized that the pro bass series was still solid and there was really no need to get any BRX stuff

Yeah, I've posted on FB, Myspace, called, emailed, and written. They always say it's a good idea, but that's it. I figured with all the popularity of Carvins being inexpensive, and their being a consumer want for that config.(maybe not Carvin's), they would wanna try and stay in the game. Plus, I figure if they could make'em 1000-1200watts@4ohms, putting 2 of'em with the B2000 head down to 2ohms would be devastating for not as much money as most new rigs.

Carvin is a very customer oriented company. If there is enough of a demand for a product they will make one to fill that demand.

Unfortunately using six drivers with a result of 4Ω would require 24Ω drivers wired in parallel. Not an off the shelf driver. They could get one made but they would be more expensive than stock.

In the mean time you could add an 8Ω 2x10 to a 4Ω 4x10 and get a 6x10 running at 2.67Ω.

Carvin does a lot of shipping. More large format cabs seems like a bad move for them.

Ah, just as with 310 cabs where the nominal load is actually 5.3 ohms but gets billed in product lit as 4 ohms, that's no real obstacle to any company.

Why not just buy a 4 ohm 4x10 and an 8 ohm 2x10 to get 2.67 ohms out of 6x10's. Or three 8 ohm 2x10's. See what I'm getting at?

Three 8 ohm 2x10's is the way to go, if you need to go Carvin. That way, each box is getting the same amount of power to each speaker. But, maybe pick up a used SWR 610?

My point was that you can assemble a 610 stack (or two) at 2.67 ohms with preexisting cabinets. No different than two 610's at 2.67 ohm each. They'd probably end up rated as 2 anyway.
