Just heard that Genz Benz is now Fender owned...is this true?

I am curious of the truth of this rumor.

I heard this rumor yesterday and am curious if it's true or not. I did notice that the warranty from my 6.0 last a bit longer than the warranty for my 9.0, perhaps this had something to do with the buy out.

I heard the rumor from a guy at Drum City Guitarland while helping my Friend/drummer shop for a new snare. Knowing they are a Genz dealer I asked if they had any streamliners in stock. He told me they haven't shipped yet, I informed him they had. Then he change the subject to Fender now owns Genz Benz and SWR and they are going to start phasing out SWR and making changes to Genz Benz.

The dude seemed un-reliable, it took me 20 min of waiting to give up on him going in the back to grab me a lefty bongo to check out. Probably the fattest, rudest, laziest sales man I've ever witnessed (drum tech was awesome though).

It's true, and has been for some time now.

Bummer, I hope the great Genz Guys stay in control of most aspects. I'm early in my gear collection/career and plan on being a life long customer. 9.0 is big part of my two main tones.

What about the SWR phase out? is that true also?

Like I say, it's been that way for a while and it doesn't seem to have changed anything so far.

Not sure about the SWR thing.

Why is this in the classifieds? Mods need to move to amps.

God Bless, Ray

Agreed. Hope it stays that way for years to come. I feel as long as the current crew is in charge we have no worries. Mostly just curious with this thread.

Wow, sorry for posting in amps classifieds, obviously meant to post in bass amps.

Sorry mods.

IIRC, Genz is owned by Kaman who is owned by Fender. Kaman owns other companies such as Gretsch. Genz is still very much in control of their own destiny from what I remember and still operate as a small company with the best CS in the business.

a little clarification here that might seem trivial, but it is not.

Genz Benz is not owned by Fender....it is owned by FMIC.

FMIC owns Fender on one side and KMC (who owns GB) on the other.

Different sales, marketing and managment teams. Thuis has been the case for the last four years.

Also, it has not changed your warranty. It is now and has been three years transferable.

Lastly, SWR and Genz Benz have nothing to do with eachother.

THANK YOU for reality and facts. Of course, that's not commonly what people want in I'net forums, but I appreciate it.
