I just picked up a Bag End S-12D cabinet. I haven't had a chance to really push it yet, but so far, I'm really impressed. I have had Euphonic Audio, Eden, Trace Elliot, Ampeg, SWR, Carvin, and Gallien Krueger cabinets, but none of them have ever had a 12" speaker, so this is my first 12.
I was worried that I would miss a tweeter. I had no experience with Bag End, and my first impression is that they know how to make a cabinet, and they do it well.
This thing sounds great. Great dynamic range, really thick lows with punchy mids. It is a little shy on top without the tweeter, but nothing a little bass EQ and amp EQ can't handle.
I'm looking for a small head to go with it. Eden Time Traveler, Genz Shuttle, etc. If anyone has any good recommendations to pair with a single 12, let me know. |

Bag End builds stuff to last and to sound great. Hope you get a lot of satisfying use out of your cab and that you find the perfect head to power it. You're asking the right people!

Mixes well with other cabs too. I've wondered what it would sound like with the little GK head, might be better off with the MB500 or Fusion for headroom.
Fun cabinet!

I guess they don't have a fancy sounding name, but it buries most of the other cabinets I've ever used. I'm loving it. |

My vote for a head to go with would be a Shuttle or Streamliner. I have a Shuttle 6.0 and it sounds excellent with a single 12".

D | Thanks. I'm always weary of buying a head without ever having played one, but I know the Genz stuff gets a lot of love here. I will have to check one out sometime. |

I'm hearing more subtlety in blending between the pickups and dialing in that tone I hear in my head. I'm really liking this cabinet. |

The cab turned out to be an S-12RD, which was a cab thyey designed for guitar to break up when pushed. Once I got a head and started pushing it, I had to get rid of the cab. It wasn't for bass, and sounded like it. I got a GK MB200 head and a GK NEO 112-II cabinet. I'm loving the tone. The GK head is just killer. |

Bag Ends really aren't out of favor. Several of my friends gig with them on a regular basis. I have a coax 1-10, coax 1-15, coax shallow 2-10 and S-15 full range cab. |

They were on consignment, now they're off so they have some room on the pricing. Under $300 each. I played through them today, they sound great in a no tweeter kind of way. If I could find a way to justify it I'd own them... cool cabs. |

My present rig is just excellent so I can't justify it. They are in great shape too. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
