Just Put My Deposit Down For an LDS Cab!

I ordered a 2x15/2x6 sealed cab to go with my V4b. Just wanted to share my excitement! I will be sure to post pictures and a review when it comes... IN EIGHT WEEKS!!! It's a long time to wait, but I'm sure it's worth it.

Congrats, Don does excellent work; I have two of his cabs. Don't be surprised if it takes more than 8 weeks, unless he's caught up, it could take longer.

We are going with ceramic speakers. The box itself will be 27 in wide, 14 in deep, and 34 or 36 in tall. I can't remember exactly. Black tolex, and 70's style ampeg grill cloth to match my head.

Sounds cool except for the speakers. With 2x15's, you are going to seriously regret passing on the neos down the road. It'd be pretty easy to shave 30lbs from your cab if you went with all neos (for the mids and woofers).

Seen it a lot of times

I have a SWR 2x15 that I could barely carry by myself.

Speaker blew, replaced with neos......

Amazing. Sounds great, and I can carry it myself. total bonus.
Anyone that helps me carry it up or down lots of stairs is always amazing by how light it is.

Concur.

At least go with Neo 15's. Kappalite 3015LF's to be precise.

In a 2x15, I wouldn't begrudge someone saving some money using Deltalites. The 3015LF is a great woofer but the Deltalite is pretty close to its performance up to 100-150w or so per woofer.

I have people to carry it for me. I really don't like the sound of neo's. The extra weight of ceramics is worth it to me.

If it's crossed over to two midrange drivers there is no way you will tell the difference between neos and ceramics. Even if the generalizations people make about them were accurate, they all disappear above the xover frequency (800-1200hz) pretty much. Or at least are greatly attenuated.

But, if you've got roadies, that's great =)

In that case, have Don build the box out of 1 1/2" ply...you know, for sturdiness.

My last cab was an Aguilar DB412. I moved that beast around all by myself. The crossover will most likely be around 12k.

At 1.2khz likewise I doubt you will tell much of a difference between neos and ceramics.
