OK, so once again I'm having cab GAS. But. Before I go off willy-nilly and buy something that won't be what I want it to be, I'd like to test drive some.
Specifically, I'm interested in 6x10 cabs. Ampeg, Berg, Mesa, or whatever.
So, my favor to ask is this: do any of you have a 6x10 that I could test-drive? Either at your location or (preferably, but I understand if you're not willing) in a real-life situation at my band's practice space...
I would be glad to leave my cab (Schroeder 412L) as a "deposit" on the loan, and would really only need it for an evening or two, tops.
I know most of you probably don't know me, as I don't hang out over here much, but my feedback rating here is good, and that should count for something, no?
So yeah. If you're willing to help a brother bassist out, hit me with a PM, or just respond to this thread and I'll catch it.
Thanks
M

It's hands down my favorite cab I've ever heard or played through and ever since picking up the DB750 I've been really really tempted to pick up another one. |

and i don't care how good it sounds in-store, it's not going to sound the same with the band.

FWIW, I've played most of the 610s on the market, and if you're looking for great highs and lows - and a modern type sound, the PH 610 is the best, with SWR's Goliath Sr after that... For a more classic Ampeg 810 sound, Berg's NV610 is tops... I had the use of an SVT-610HLF for a month, and IME it didn't compare to any of those...

I would suggest seeing Keith over at the OP GC...He's a great guy..if they have one in stock, I'm sure he'll let you test drive it.
Sorry, but good luck!!
As a PS....I have to admit that while the 6X10 IS easier to cart around - I still prefer the 8X10...(IMO) and, of course, YMMV

You could always do the whole "buy and return" routine from GC if you happen to hate the cab

though i used to use a fridge and liked it, minus the hauling. but with the 'burban...
man, i dunno. i like my schro 412, but i feel like it's missing something. but i can't quite finger out what that is.

I just ran it last fri.and sat. night at 2 outdoor venues without pa support and it did great! its a great versatile rig, I can run 210,410 or 610 depending on what is needed.

They had great music and fantastic ribs and pork tenderloins the size of large pancakes. Any of you guys remember that place?
