Kustom 2x10 combo groove bass 600

I was wondering how do I achieve a Jaco+Marcus tone? Or atleast a very clear punchy crisp tone. I have tried playing with the amp but nothing I do sounds even remotly close to my desired tone. I was first wondering what should I set the graphic EQ at? It has a plus or minus 12db at

30
50
100
200
400
800
1.6k
2.4k
6.4k

It also has the standard Bass, middle and high, each one having a switch I can set at normal, sub, shift or define. I really need help I can't make it sound anything like I want to. If it makes any difference I am playing an Ibanez sr 605 with Bart pickups and Bart electronics.

It may be the inherent tone of the amp that you don't like. I'm not familiar with your particular combo, but in general, I don't think Kustom brand amps are known to be punchy and modern, and it sounds like you want an amp that IS.

Alas, I do not have money for a new amp so I have to make do with what works.

The Groove line are actually pretty good and really moved some air. How about a Jazz Bass and a compressor? That'll do it for you all day long.

Well, maybe change your tonal goals to old school fat and thumpy, and then you're set. But, there's nothing else you could "add" on to make that amp sound like you want. Just save up and keep playing, you'll get what you want when you can afford it.

Try this:

My "from memory" guess about moving towards Marcus tone:
Bass:Use both pickups. Try removing a little Mids and adding lows and highs.
Amp: Leave the amp flat. If it isn't that good then do the same thing here. Try removing a little Mids and adding lows and highs.

Slap away!

For a more Jaco thing:
Bass: Use the bridge pickup, boost mids and maybe a little lows, play finger style over the neck pickup for normal playing or bridge pickup for solos
Amp: Try leaving it flat at first. If that doesn't do the trick, use the above settings on the amp and set the bass flat.

Edit: Or try boosting specific frequencies on the sliders to see what you like and don't like. A mild "smile" might get you in the right direction for slaps and "frown" for Jaco.
