Kustom K200 & grounded AC cord

Sign in to disble this ad
I have recently purchased an old "tuck & roll" Kustom K-200 head, and want to install a grounded AC cord. What is involved in this installation ? I think I can handle the job myself - do I simply hook the ground wire to the amp chassis ? Any help or insight appreciated !

You do, attaching it to the star ground lug inside the chassis; assuming the power transformer is center-tapped the center tap is connected to the star ground. You should replace the double throw center off power switch with a single throw. While you're at it install one of these and use an IEC cord.

3 MOVs across the filter outputs is also a good idea. Between the filter and ten bucks worth of MOVs you've got the equivalent of a $100 power conditioner inside your amp (as do most amps made today).
