the guitarist in my new band has a really cool old tube amp just sitting around because it started smoking once... it just looked really cool and wanted to find some info on it. All I really know is its 200 watts and kind of shaped like an ampeg svt only about 3 inches shorter. And would it be worth attempting to repair it... ill try and get pictures friday when we practice. I cant remember the name of it but it started with a c... if i had to guess id say its probably a 60's to 70s model but i dont really know.

Also, they were odd in the sense that they had a tube POWER section and ss pre.
I only remember Earth amps doing Tubes + Tuck'n'roll.

As a die hard DIYaholic, my view is that almost anything is worth saving and fixing .
Moneywise it may not be worth it, but if You can get it for free, and You are familiar with the safety issues when working on wall voltage devices, that might be a rewarding project.

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Portland oregon | | | i did a bunch of research last night and found the same info in another forum that finding parts for it are going to be almost impossible. as much as I would love to fix it im not sure I could find parts to. I have never seen capititors like the big blue ones before im willing to put money on the fact that they are so old they probably wont work anymore.

But if its transistors, then yes, those are hard to find.
