LANEY 810

Here I am again with another question, I was playing a gig tonight using my schroeder 310212. I was using my SWR head and this guy come up after the show , asking if I would consider trading my cab for a Laney 810. This cab is rated at 1600 watts and has celestion green label neo speakers. You can also use it as a 810 at 4ohms are 2 410s at 8ohms and its in real good shape he tells me. He's an older guy and he has to go back to Irag for 2 weeks then he will be back. Can any of you tell me about these Laney cabs and if they are any good, are anything about them. Ive played Laney guitar amps.

I had a Laney Nexus NX810 for a couple months. It had a very vintage flavored tone that I definitely liked. The Celestion BN10-200X speakers had tight low end in the shelved sealed cab but not really useful below 40 Hz. The cab is very easy to move for a 8x10 with tilt back wheels, solid handles, and only 92 lbs with the light weight neo magnets. I sold it since it didn't handle my Hiwatt 400 amp without some weird buzzing or the speakers farting out, but maybe 50 hours wasn't enough time for break-in. It could be a great cab for someone depending on style, bass tuning, and volume needs. The Celestion neos have 96 dB sensitivity, so there are certainly louder options out there.

I have 2 of the NX410s. Love them. That said, I have no idea if it is worth the trade. i've never used a Schroeder 310212. No idea on any Schroeder in fact. So maybe go test it out with your head.

Have both Laney and Schroeder, oddly - they both use Celestion Orange Label NEO drivers~! Jorg has a slight mod to the voice coils on his, but essentially the same.

The Laney 810 is the best 810 I have ever played. It needs to be stuffed in each of the (4) 210 compartments, they don't put insulation for mid & high reflection and they should IMHO. I do this myself since batting is like $8 at Walmart and it's easy as sin to do yourself.

Schroeder cabs are louder, very well designed, and a lot more $$ too. I had prior owned GK, Genz, SWR, Eden, and a few others - forget them, they all have whimpy 100w-150w production line drivers.

Hope that helped you.

Thanks for the report! I'm looking at the Laney NX410 cab. Have you played thru them? Good low end? I can buy new for $400.00. Sounds too good to pass up! . I currently have ampeg B-15T Portaflex Fliptop 60's model. I'm looking for a bigger rig for Sm-Med outdoor venues this summer. Thinking about selling my ampeg combo to buy Laney NX15 to stack. If I decide to go Laney. I'm also considering ampeg 410 HLF.

great price, good FET solid state type head but no great warmth or balls to it, still worth the price I believe.
