Sign in to disble this ad
a couple years ago i came across a bass cab that had a ridiculous amount of speakers... (my memory is bad but the numbers arent grossly exaggerated) 2x15, 4-8x10, 2x12, an 8. maybe a 6...basically a crazy beast. anybody seen this? if so what the devil was it called? it wasnt a custom thing, it was available for purchase for those brave/dumb enough to do so

Tecamp BadCab. The Tecamp I sold today is a very good cab, but I think this one would be silly.

What's the name of that bass?
I know it's a B.C. Rich Mockingbird, but from what year?
I'd like to look into how those things are.

Yeah exactly, I was going to say you could play that bass through a bowl of dinty moore stew and it would sound good...

I think it's funny how light that badcab actually is even with the 2x10, 2x12, 4x10 combo... at 119 lbs it weighs the same as a bunch of 6x10 cabs.

I know Peavey has their 2x18+2x10 but didn't Peavey make a 2x18+4x10 cab once?

I saw one cab one time that was a 6x15+4x12+horns, it was made by Magnatone.

Some famous guitar player, who i can't remember, has one run by a Mesa 400 or 400+.

EDIT:

Ah, Neil young.

Here it is.

(No, not him in this, but that is the same cabinet he uses)

78/79 TJ series. So slightly different shape to most mocks. Neck is really beefy on it, my bag, but not ideal for neck dive.

No problem.

Saw it in some rag of a mag awhile back, and always remembered it.

I wonder what Magnatone had powering it back in they day?

They always had rather unique and interesting amplifiers...

If I remember correctly the one I saw was a Organ cabinet, and was powered by some 6973 tubes, put out like 50 or so watts.

Just curious, doesn't it fall over? I've a bass with a similar curve at the bottom and I can't get it to stand up like that.

I really want to play through that badcab at least once.

That makes sense, IIRC it was a cabinet before Very large tube amps, quite early 60's would be my guess.

It makes me think of it as the Grandaddy to the Peavey 3620 - quite impressive looking at it, and moderate for its time.
