Genz Benz Streamliner 900. Loads of tubey goodness. 900w in a small package.

Avatar TB153. Deal on a well made three-way cab with a great neo 15" sub.

Be seeing you
A great journey in DIY, and a great product at the end, a great learning curve along the way, major grins when using the product.

Small high powered heads at relatively low prices and lightweight cabinets. Also the 3way cabinet designs from some of the custom guys are looking very promising

Yes. My Markbass rig has changed my life for sure. Little Mark III and a 151P cab almost covers all my bases. One more 151P planned for, though.

Mini Rigs are getting me these days

Streamliner 900
PF 350/500 heads 210's and 115's
Micro VR HEad and 210AV's

Then there is the SVT 8 Pro, just want to hear one with the tube power section emulation capabilities. Price tag is kinda impeding...

I just don't have the gear bank roll I used to...

Limited to a one year time frame, not a lot out there there is breaking any new ground. A few more me-too micros, a bit of additional power in updated models, and not much else.

The three pieces of gear that seem to have broken some new ground in late 2010 through 2011 IMO:

- Genz Streamliner600/900.... super tubey hybrid. Top of the category in ooomph on the gig.

- Audiokinesis Thunderchild.... the smallest and IMO most nicely voiced of the new Super 12's. As close as anyone has gotten to true large cab performance in a very small box

- Acme Neo 112's.... a lighter weight and a bit more aggressively voiced box for the 'Open B fundamental' fans.

I would also agree that some of Ampeg's new hybrid offerings are 'not sucking', which is pretty big news IMO! Not breaking new ground tonally, but getting to the Ampeg tone in lighter and louder executions.

Man, when I signed on to TalkBass it started a long, dark period of tone search, gear whoredom, money lost to wild stabs at products that were supposed to relieve my GAS pains. At the beginning I had a GK 800RB, Hartke 410 and Mesa Diesel 115. After many years I finally re-discovered GK products, which seem to contain "my sound." The MB212 has kept me relatively GAS-free (except for other GK products) for the last year and a half. YMMV.

2500+ watt power amps that weigh 10 lbs and only cost around $500. DIY cabinets that are lightweight yet handle 1000 watts without distorting. Lots of power, lots of headroom, and a big sound with little weight and little money.

Seriously! TB can suck it! Just kidding, of course!

Because of Talkbass: I got a LMII that I loved, then moved to a GK 400RB that I loved, now I'm using a Sound City B150 that I love.

In my case, my gear keeps getting older. No latest and greatest for me...yet (Traynor YBA300...). GAS will strike again, thanks to TB!
