8x10 Ampeg SVT Classic Bass Cabinet
The problem i have with it is that it is so beat up. It makes me wonder if its the outside beat up or the inside too.
I have never owned an svt before so im not too knowledgeable about them. So some advice on the condition would be great! Is it too risky or overpriced? I would put a new cloth on it for sure.. maybe even re tolex in tweed or something cool. Or maybe not.
Advice please!

Then re-neg for lower price. As much as I like SVT 810s and your idea of restoring it, I am not gonna pay it for $450. I'd get it at $250~$300 max if it really is still functional. |

Ones in excellent shape can be had for $600-800.
This one looks abused as well as roadworn.

I'd say $300-$350 would be more reasonable in this condition, because that thing is beat to hell. I know that some dings and tears are normal, but this is soooo bad.... |

I was thinking, if i did do it, i would restore it. Maybe re tolex. But then I got to thinking some more. The band Hundredth has their cabs covered with fake snakeskin. At least I would assume its fake. But seeing as Im an okie, what would you think if you saw that bad boy covered in cowhide? Im talking stereotypical dairy cow black and white. Then Paint a white grill cloth to match?
Sound cheezy enough?

I gotta see how low I can get him to go, justify it, and then see what repairs it needs as well as finding a leather shop around here. Or at least someone with an extra cow.. Ha.

He said if i knew anything about the cabs i would know that my grandson will still be using it years from now. But i cant justify paying that for a beat up cab..
