LH1000 VS SWR 700

I went to my Local GC yesterday, and was looking at a Jazz bass. Why I was there a guy that work that department I guess, ask me what rig I was using. I told him a USA Fender P, SWR WorkingPro 700 and a Schroeder 310212. He ask me how I like playing without any bottom, I might as well be playing guitar. I told him I got plenty low end. And this is what he said, All I had to do is get rid of the SWR and replace it with the Hartke LH1000 with what I already had. He told me the Hartke would blow away the SWR, Ive never played one are heard one except on the computer. Way more bottom no matter what cab is what he told me. He all so said my cab was way to much for my amp. I ask him to play one but he had neither the LH1000 are LH500. Tell me is this guy full of crap are not. And what really pissed him off when I told him, I never make a decision until I come here first. I do miss the 15s sometimes but I like 12s. but rather the Hartke can put more lows out then my SWR I don't know. Its a lot cheaper then my head was.

I put a sovetek LPS in my LH1000 preamp and it has TONS of bottom. I have never heard a SWR 700, but don't think it could improve much on what I have.

I wouldn't lose much sleep over it. If I lived in Austin and had a place like Bass Emporium nearby, the GC drones would never see me anyway.

Anyone who says things like that is trying to goad you into buying something using intimidation so he can make money. $$$hole. Period.

I was at GC a few weeks ago and a sales guy came up to me while I was trying out one of the new Fender P bass 5's.

It had a horrible setup that included very high action and the pickup was extremely uneven - a pyramid shape with almost an inch gap between the pole pieces on the B and G strings.

He told me with the utmost confidence that Fender does all of that intentionally because that's the correct way to setup a P bass for the best sound.

Most GC employees don't know what the hell they are talking about at any given moment.

The Hartke LH1000 is a great amp for sure, and it may give you a different tone, but it's got nothing to do with the "lows". Your amp as fully capable of providing low end as well.

The Bass Emporium is cool but a little to high for me for somethings. I can buy the same stuff cheaper online, just have to wait for it. Its a cool place to go and try stuff others don't carry. Then find it cheaper somewhere else. I bought two cabs from them in the past. Have neither now.
