LH500 More Mids?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, I'm just wondering, is there a way to get more mids out of a Hartke LH500? Atm I'm running the EQ like this: Bass: 2/3 Mids: 10 Treble 2/3. It sounds pretty flat/abit scooped to my ears, one idea I've had is getting an EQ pedal, & running that into the FX loop, or maybe just getting a differently voice preamp.

I play in a hard rock band, with active T-bird/Jazz style basses, generally I like the sound of Marshall/Hiwatt/Orange valve amp, buuuuut, I really don't have the budget for one of those

Any suggestions/advice would be really REALLY helpful. Thank you!

Well, I don't personally find it to be scooped sounding with it set "flat". However, if you need to get more mids out of the amp(which I agree would be useful in some situations), I would get a Sansamp VT Bass pedal. You can use it to add midrange, as well as a just a bit of distortion which will fill out the sound a lot. I dig the LH500. Its a really clean and clear amp. I am not super sold on the Fender tone stack though. Still, one of the better sounding amps I have played...

I too personally have plenty of mids by running the 2-10-2 EQ, and have even backed the mids down a couple of clicks on occasion. There's definitely no rule that says you can't get an EQ peddle for an extra boost. But, I am a huge fan of my LH1000 and Hydrive 410. Don't know if the cab helps bring out some extra mids or not, but it sure sounds great to me. Anyhow, do what you gotta do.
