Light 15"
 

I am relatively new to the high quality bass gear. I had Peavey,and Crate etc,,when I was a teen ager. Now that I am much older,I want to play again. I went to an open mic,,mid size bar. Guy was playing a Lakland 5 String with a GK RB head and a BagEnd single 15". It was a light cab,and no matter where I went in that room,I heard him. The cab weighed less than 50lbs. Is there any other high quality cabs that weight in that area? And the cab handled that low B.

A compositions Bassic from Mike Arnopol should be 30 pounds or less.

if you liked that sound then you might want to try the GK MB 115 -II combo. Lightweight, 200 watts, and handles low B very nicely.

I've also played through a Markbass Mini CMD 121P, a 12", but 300 watts and that too manages low B clearly. Almost twice the price of the GK combo, though.

Is that Big E loudspeakers?

I was told GK doesn`t have the same sound or quality as years back..you disagree?

Mike builds for several designers, but the Bassic is a Greenboy design.

Indeed I do disagree, I have an old 400 and 800RB and have played them side by side with the MB 115 combo. Taking into account the difference in speakers (all 15s, btw, but not all GK) I'd say the MB holds up very nicely. Definitely giggable if you don't need it waaaayyyyyy loud.

Another option is go with a GK head, either the RB or lightweight MBs and one of the new composite cabs CL400Peavey is talking about.

G-K NEO115 III is 40 lbs. Carvin has a 115 at 52 lbs. Genz-Benz Uber 115 54 lbs. LDS could make one for you as well. More I am sure out there!

Is this Peavey out yet? I googled,,but not seeing it.

Mike doesn't have a site, but he has a lot of composite builds out there.

The GK MB combos are out and available pretty much everywhere. Same with their micro heads.

Custom LDS 115 using an Eminence Kappa Lite 3015 or Faital Pro 15PR400. Don (LDS) builds top quality boxes for, IMHO, very reasonable coin. Both speakers are full range. If you want a high frequency driver, consider the Selenium D220Ti & H25-25 horn or HC23-25 horn.

Super air movement for a single 15. Compact & lightweight w/very high dB sensitivity (aka ability to get loud, lol :hyper: ).

Barefaced Compact - 27lbs

I love my Bag End S-15. 49 lbs., 200 watts, super portable.
Built like a tank. Loud, handles an active low B very well.
Just buy a Bag End.

Markbass Traveler 151P is 45.75 lbs. I have two, but want a Barefaced Compact.
